Bounce is a 2002 Arabian Gelding. He was diagnosed with alopecia, an autoimmune disease causing hair loss, in April 2009. This is critical because a horse living in Minnesota cannot survive without its hair. There is no known treatment for alopecia in traditional medicine, so I have decided to try a different approach by contacting Dr. Joseph Thomas, Ph.D of For the Love of the Horse. Dr. Thomas is a medical research scientist and Chinese herbalist. I have created this blog to chronicle the journey and its hopeful end.
I moved to the western edge of Minneapolis from Saint Paul at 41, three horses in tow, not having the slightest clue where this would lead. It led to breeding and showing many fine horses over about twenty years. Those days are in the past, but I still have 14 horses hanging out, aging along with me. I started this blog in 2008 and like so many others I abandoned it about four years later. I think it was the Facebook Effect. After a couple of years of Covid isolation and three years of Facebook ignoring I decided to revisit my relic of a blog. It felt strange and empty at first but now it's as if I never left. If someone stumbles upon it, finds something amusing, interesting or, as is often the case, mundane in a not unpleasant way, I will be pleased.
All I can say is that I hope the herbs and acupuncturist work. He is really a handsome boy...great uphill frame, nice back with fabulous feet! For now, his face seems to be getting the brunt of it (lots of patches everywhere on the body) so hopefully the progress can be stopped. You are so great to be posting these!!
He is kind of brave, he's very bossy! Second on the totem pole in the herd. He's a stinker, so if you hugged him he'd have something in his mouth, your hair, your jacket, something. : ) Thank you for the nice comments about him. He's very solid, his sire WF Impressive sires compact athletes. Acupuncture tomorrow.
He's so brave. So are you.
ReplyDeleteI want to hug him!!!
